Mildred
and Cecil Huskey
Arnold,
Cecil & Jim Huskey
1945-After
returning home from World War II, Clay Huskey starts Huskey Lumber Company with
one truck.
1955-Clays
brother, Cecil, buys the business on Foster Avenue in South Nashville.
1962-Cecil
Huskey moves the business to Trousdale Drive in Nashville.
1977-Upon
Cecils passing, his wife Mildred takes ownership of the company.
Their son, Jim Huskey, takes over as manager of the operation, with five employees.
1978-Jims
brother, Arnold Huskey joines the company.
1981-The
brothers, Jim and Arnold, purchase the business from their mother, Mildred.
1989-Operations
expand to Franklin,TN, while continuing to operate the Trousdale store.
1993-The
company changes its name to Huskey Building Supply, to reflect the expansion
of various product lines. These lines include lumber, windows, paint, and hardware.
Huskey Truss Company was formed to manufacture building components including
wall panels, roof trusses, and pre-built stairs.
2003-The
company streamlines its product lines to focus on the needs of professional
builders. Huskey grows to 90 employees with $26 million in revenue.
A new location is opened in Mt Juliet to serve middle Tennesse's northern and northeast counties.
2007-Revenue growth approaches $70 million, with 249 employees!
We are approaching Truss Plant capacity. The decision is made to open a third, large location to house the new Truss Plant, and better serve Rutherford county.
2008-Our state of the art Truss Plant and yard are scheduled to open January 1 in Murfreesboro.
